The architecture of La Grange highlights the wild charm of the site. Located at the top of a ridge and bordered by the surrounding forest, this prestigious two-storey chalet offers a breathtaking view of the St. Lawrence River.
Inspired by the traditional regional barn, this familiar shape is here entirely covered with vertical metal siding. Three volumetric cut-outs generate the entrance and the two terraced areas. These recesses in the main volume are accentuated by a wood coating evoking the protective bark of the tree.
The cottage takes root in the basement, whose wood and concrete walls delimit the playroom and the children's dormitory. On the ground floor, the entrance, completely covered in wood, opens onto 4 large, luxurious bedrooms, each equipped with a full bathroom. The staircase, a kind of aerial backbone, leads to the living areas that overlook the forest and the surrounding area. From the inside, the windows precisely frame the landscape, the mountains, and some more mature trees.
The common area upstairs is very friendly and bright. White cedar, which covers walls and ceilings abundantly, colors the light. The mirror effect of the radiant concrete floor reflects daylight and projects the eye to the outside. The numerous windows open onto an almost panoramic view of the landscape and the surrounding forest. The impressive cathedral ceiling and the fireplace carefully placed at the center of this free plan unify the different areas of activity — reading, cooking, discussions, meals, etc. At nightfall, the warmth of the home and the dim lights obscure the ceilings and create a warm and mysterious atmosphere that evokes the Quebec vigils of yesteryear.
The photos with the mention “Hameau l Common Zone” are photos of the common pavilion that you have free access to when renting this chalet. You have access to a swimming pool and a tennis-basketball court. You will need to reserve time slots for private lounges and the tennis court. No reservation is required to swim. Bookings are made directly on site.
